Christmassy Cities to Visit

I came across a list of the most Christmassy cities across the States, some are obvious choices and others seem quite random…that is unless you are part of the planning committee. I think that America does Christmas fantastically and somehow it seems genuine and that effort and thought is put into the spectacle. By State Alabama – Huntsville – See Santa’s Village at the Train … Continue reading Christmassy Cities to Visit

What Annoys you most about Flying?

I was having a conversation with a colleague who was expressing his dissatisfaction at Air Transat. He commented about the quality of the other passengers onboard. His biggest gripe though,  was that the fact that the passenger in front put the seat back as soon as the seat belt sign was turned off after take off. In his opinion you have no need to recline … Continue reading What Annoys you most about Flying?

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex

Info: Cost to enter for the day is approximately £50 per person for the base entry but there are plenty of add ons to pre purchase on different tickets. Travel time is around 90 minutes from Orlando area and is easily combined with an evening in Cocoa Beach. After a dozen visits to the Sunshine State we split into two parties. One drove us across … Continue reading Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex

Walt Disney World Florida

Recently we visited Disney Springs, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and The Magic Kingdom. We were lucky with the weather and although armed with Niagara Falls Ponchos they weren’t required. For a UK visitor beginning of September proved to be a good time to visit. The schools are back so the parks were quieter and mostly adults with small children were the guests. We actually got on … Continue reading Walt Disney World Florida

New York Parking and Petrol

I know space is at a premium in New York and it really interested me how very small spaces are used to park as many cars as possible. Some times up to three stories high. I never did see what they do to bring down a car parked above another but I hope that the guys moving them around are fully insured.   The traffic … Continue reading New York Parking and Petrol

New York-Brand USA Visit

There was a small group of 7 soon to be 8 travel professionals on a visit to both New York and Boston. First was New York on August 19 and 20. In New York accommodation was at the quirky boutique hotel  Arlo Hotel Soho. Located right by the Holland Tunnel entrance and nearby Canal Street Metro stop. Transfers were mainly by Uber. I have never been in … Continue reading New York-Brand USA Visit

Disney – why are the tickets different from the UK?

Yes I know I have just come back from my last trip but the next one is looming. This time we are travelling back to Florida for some R&R. We have visited all the parks at one time or another and have spent quite a lot time discussing our options and what is best value to see the most on this visit. I am sure … Continue reading Disney – why are the tickets different from the UK?

USA – Public Holidays

In the UK in May we get two Bank Holidays, one on the first Monday for Labour Day and then another on the last Monday of May. There isn’t another until the end of August and that is it until Christmas! I will be in New England for Memorial Day and in Florida for American Labor Day in September but have visited on other holidays. It got … Continue reading USA – Public Holidays

New England – Latest Road Trip 2018

The count down is on. I have done all my planning and research and this week I put the finishing touches on my latest road trip. Probably missing some ‘must not miss’ areas but feeling pretty pleased with the result. If you have read my earlier blog on planning in progress or Great Rail Journeys you will remember that I want to visit Mount Washington … Continue reading New England – Latest Road Trip 2018

American Sports – Go See It!

You all know which sports are exclusively American I assume. I speak of Baseball, American Gridiron Football, Basketball and Lacrosse. The latter I can’t speak about but I suspect it is an amateur sports. The others are in the life blood of American society. Those cities that don’t have a AFL or NFL team are graced with a college or state team. The stadia built … Continue reading American Sports – Go See It!
