Hey America did you know that the USA are c0-hosting the ICC T20 World Cup?
And that USA beat Pakistan in a thrilling Super Over match this week?
Not normally a sport associated with America but now there is a programme to promote the sport within schools on the back of the T20 being played in the USA. Baseball is rumoured to have been created from cricket back in the day.
Twenty teams from across the five continents are competing in 4 groups of 5 teams who play a round robin with the top two from each group going forward into the Super 8 knockout phase of the tournament.
England are the current holders in this 20 over (6 balls) version of the game.
There are only two dedicated cricket stadiums in America and both are venues that have had their capacity increased to allow more spectators and hospitality areas.
Grand Prairie Stadium – Texas – 15,000 seats
Nassau County International Cricket Stadium – New York Long Island – 34,000 seats
Central Broward Park – Florida – 25,000 seats
The T20 World Cup runs from 01 June – 29 June
