1932 Iconic Photo Lunch Atop a Skyscraper
Now most people will know this famous photograph from 1932 of the 11 ironworkers eating lunch, precariously sitting on a steel beam 850 feet in the air during construction, at what has been confirmed as the Rock Center’s RCA Building or 30 Rock at the Rockefeller Centre as it is now known as.
The photo is famously called ‘Lunch Atop a Skyscraper’ but has also been known as ‘Lunch on a Beam’ and ‘Men on a Beam’.

The latest attraction at the ‘Top of the Rock” at the Rockefeller Center is called ‘The Beam’ and is a ride and photo opportunity that mimics the iconic photograph.
Riders sit on a beam that rises 12 feet into the air and then turns 180 degrees giving riders amazing 360 degree views over the Manhattan skyline 70 floors up approximately 800 feet.
Rider tickets are $40 per adult and the last timed ticket is 23.10 and the attraction closes at Midnight.
Have a look at the Beams in action at one of the three observation opportunities that 30 Rock offers.
