American Airlines Check-In

USA Road Trips by Max is going to be busy over the next 10 days as my next Road Trip Adventure starts tomorrow when I fly to Chicago O’Hare.

I am all checked in and my husband has kindly agreed to drive me to London Heathrow early tomorrow morning. Now if you want to be dropped of at the terminals the only way in is via the tunnels and that privilege costs £5 for every time you go through. I paid the charge in advance because the purchase is valid for a year. If you are meeting arriving passengers and they aren’t at the terminal yet you can’t stop and wait and you need to keep in motion if you exit to re-enter it will cost you another £5 to enter the tunnels again.

TIP: If you have time factored in why not drop off and collect your party at one of the long stay car parks at Heathrow Airport? There is up to 30 minutes free parking to allow waiting time. Have your party take the transportation to the Long Stay car parks and wait for them there.

American Airlines check-in was simple but each year reveals something new and this year was no exception. I had to place my passport on a stable surface and allow access to my camera on the phone so that it would scan the bar code to confirm my identity in readiness for dropping off my bags tomorrow.

I wasn’t amused though to discover that my seat selection had been changed without informing me and now instead of the bulk head by the window I have an aisle seat in the middle set of seats. Still I suppose I won’t be disturbing anyone to get by them to stretch my legs.

I should get dropped off by 06.30 latest and I am keeping my fingers crossed that the line for security is not as horrendous as last year and I have an unhurried experience this time around.

Keep an eye on further posts during the next 11 days as I strike off States 46 & 47.
