There are currently 620 amusement park business’s registered in the USA which is an increase of 9.1% on 2022. It is impossible to keep up with all the movers and shakers so here are a few that caught my attention recently.
The #1 is not surprisingly Walt Disney World Resort in Florida but did you know that in America there are currently 624 steel Roller Coasters and over 117 wooden coasters.
Away from Central Florida and it’s multiple theme parks is an astonishing roller coaster that clings to the summit of the Rocky Mountains and hurls it’s riders seemingly over the top and down into the range below.
Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park opened ‘Defiance’ opened this year with the following heart-stopping features: 102.3-degree free-fall, the steepest in the Western USA, 98-ft twisted top hat switch, 111ft banana roll,
41ft Zero-G heart-line roll.
It is currently the highest looping roller coaster in the United States.
The Caverns are close to the spa resort of Glenwood Springs surrounded by the White River National Park. If you are arriving Internationally the Springs are nearly a three hour drive from Denver.
In other recent theme park announcements are that Universal in Orlando are introducing Illuminations Minion land that opens next week 11 August 2023.
Universal’s Minion Land features interactive rides and themed eateries.
Mattel the makes of Barbie have recently announced the first Mattel Adventure Park. It is planned to open in 2024 in Glendale about 20 minutes from Phoenix – AZ. There will be a whole area dedicated to Barbie which on the back of the success of the hit movie is sure to be a huge attraction. A recent press release indicates that Barbie Beach House, designed to be a must visit destination for Barbie fans of all ages. The Barbie Beach House features the Barbie flying theatre, taking riders on a journey from deep underwater to outer space; the Dream Closet Experience, where Barbie, through state-of-the-art hologram technology, is brought to life to help curate the ultimate wardrobe; and the Barbie Rooftop where guests can enjoy a selection of signature pink beverages perfectly paired with sweet and savoury snacks while enjoying panoramic views of the property.
