With all the planning virtually sorted for my next adventure to America when I will be checking off States 46 and 47 I came across this nugget.
State 46 is Nebraska that will be visited on a road trip. Then number 47 is North Dakota and I will be flying from Chicago O’Hare to Fargo – North Dakota.
The flight takes approximately 2 hours and I will take the hotel shuttle to the area known as ‘Medical Center’. I won’t have a car on this adventure so I am depending on ‘MATBUS’ to get around. There are a couple of options to get the bus into the ‘Downtown’ area and the Visitors Center as well as the Fargo Theater.
It appears that folks wanting to visit all 50 American States generally are leaving North Dakota to last and the Fargo & Moorhead Visitors Center has a club that celebrates the achievement of visiting all 50 American States. Simply called Best for Last Club members are awarded with a t-shirt, an official certificate and the occasional round of applause from the staffers on duty. It was created back in 2013 and has over 4,000 members.
Unfortunately for me I won’t be allowed to join because only those celebrating 50 can join. Unbelievable really that I can’t get any recognition for my years of travelling and planning in quest of magic 50. Oh well I guess it will be a new magnet or Starbuck’s mug as a memento of North Dakota.
