Chicago River Ducky Derby

Away from the global pandemic and the confusing picture about international travel there was the annual Chicago Ducky Derby that is held on the Chicago River. Almost 70,000 rubber ducks with sunglasses are literally dumped into the Chicago River every August. Funds are raised to support the Special Olympics Illinois

Crowds gather on River Walk between the Columbus and Michigan Avenue Bridges to see the ducks race between the bridges. Patrons purchase ducks at $5 each or $25 for 6 and can win a brand new SUV and a holiday to the Maya Riviera.
