Experiencing July 4th in Orlando: A Magical Independence Day

I can’t quite believe this but I will be arriving in Orlando on 4th July just in time to see some special firework display or displays to celebrate with America on her 250th birthday.

This is a completely unscheduled break and another Virgin Holiday bargain that I discovered so close to this special celebration. I land at approximately 18:00 and flying into Orlando (MCO) for the first time since 2001. My accommodation is in Celebration and there are scheduled fireworks at 21:20.

There will be a lot of activity during this week and being in Central Florida and it’s theme parks is usually a magnet for visitors so I expect to see red, white and blue everywhere probably in competition with the ongoing World Cup with all the host countries still in the competition.

Apparently one of the most desired items currently in London is a Trader Joe’s Tote Bag. These embroidered cotton bags retail at $3.99 for the large version and $2.99 for the smaller one. There are optimistic online sellers asking upwards of £1,000 for each bag. I am going to visit Trader Joe’s not only for a look around at their produce but to see if I can get hold of some of these bags to bring home with me. The other thing I always bring back from there is the ‘everything but the bagel’ seasoning and maybe another Florida carrier bag for $0.99 which makes a great souvenir.

I will be heading up and across to Daytona Beach to visit Buc’ees and the Tanger Outlets on the Sunday and as luck would have the Trader Joe’s is right next door to the Outlets.

So a late booking taking me to Florida again and to be there for the 250th anniversary of America’s Independence is going to be a dream come true!
