It is anticipated that by 2025 that the UK’s borders will be electronic. Visitors that do NOT need a visa to enter the UK will need to purchase an ETA UK. Following the American ESTA and the Canadian ETA model, the UK will shortly be launching the new ETA UK. It is still a work in progress but visitors from countries that do not currently require a visa to enter the UK will have to purchase the ETA. The cost is estimated to be £30 and be valid for two years.

Visitors can enter for up to 6 months for tourism, business, short term study and medical treatment.
