The annual Turkey Pardon has taken place at the White House. My goodness these birds have been living the high life in Washington DC. 

They stayed in the Willard hotel close to the White House and will be flown back to Iowa so the public can visit them. They will reside on the campus of Iowa State University.

The tradition of pardoning a turkey gifted to the White House was cemented by President H.W Bush in 1989 when he remarked “Reprieve, Keep him going or Pardon””It’s all the same for the turkey as long as he doesn’t end up on the president’s holiday table.”
