As much as I want to write about visiting north of the border and Canada I have to resist unless I start a Canada Road Trip blog. I am lucky to be escorting a group that disembarks in Vancouver and accompany them on the Rocky Mountaineer all the way to Calgary and then spend two days at the Calgary Stampede. It will be work …….of course! My flights will be paid for by the company and the experience will be a product learning exercise as well as making sure our group is well looked after.
So afterwards I will be in Calgary and I am going to ask if I can extend the validity of my inbound flight by a week.
I intend to rent a car from Calgary airport and drive the 5 hours or so to the border crossing at Roosville on the US 93. From there I want to continue into Whitefish and probably base myself there. I want to see Columbia Falls, Kalispell and Flathead Lake.
Does anyone have any tips to make this an unforgettable trip? I was surprised by the accommodation cost around the area but it will be high season which isn’t normally when I travel.
