I found an article about the Chicago River Ducky Derby where the target is 100,000 rubber ducks to be unloaded into the Chicago River each one is sponsored and monies raised go to the Special Olympics Illinois annually.
Recently I came across another charity Ducky Derby that is running it’s 32nd version.
The Rotary Club of Aspen released 20,000 rubber ducks to float down the Roaring Fork River starting at Rio Grande Park. Stunning scenery combined with a good cause surely puts a smile on anybody’s face.
I also found one more city running the Ducky Derby, this time in Grandview Heights near Columbus Ohio. Ducks are sponsored and the first 5 to float across the finish line after being released down the water-slide at the municipal pool. This year was it’s first running and a much smaller affair at the moment.
I can only imagine that the trend will continue across the States and raise funds for their local charities.
