Pumpkin Spice Latte – Early Fall Return

Starbucks get the publicity but were beaten on the starting line by Dunkin Donuts for the early return of the seasonal favourite…..Pumpkin Spice Latte!

Gosh I miss America and it seems further away than ever right now. Why can’t the UK have the same delicious and heart warming aroma of Pumpkin Spice? We get seasonal flavours that finish on 31 October as a Halloween tie in not as a celebration of all things ‘FALL’.

So Dunkin’ released their Pumpkin Spice Latte for the first time on 19 August and Starbucks on August 25. Apparently since Starbucks introduced their seasonal favourite back in 2003 they have sold 400 million lattes’.

Both giants have reported that due to the Coronavirus Pandemic and the disruption to the usual commuting habits that people are just not visiting their regular coffee shops in the mornings.

Here in the UK there has been a month of ‘Eat out to help out’ supported by the Government. It ends on 31 August but I have enjoyed my coffee in the morning on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 50% off. I would have enjoyed it more if there were such things as pumpkin scones or pumpkin cream cheese muffin on the menu over here.
