Really exciting if you are visiting Disneyworld or Disneyland this summer as Disney has announced the opening dates for it’s hugely anticipated Star Wars Galaxy Edge theme lands. I am disappointed that it isn’t May the fourth though! (get it??)
Apparently ahead of schedule it opens 31 May in California and 29 August in Hollywood Studios. Guests arriving for Phase One of the area will be able to live their own Star Wars story via immersive set of events and attractions including the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride, Galactic food and drinks as well as gift shops. Phase Two will be opening at both parks later in the year and a second ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will open. The attraction will put Disney Guests in the middle of a climatic battle between the First Order and the Resistance and it is hoped that it will blur the lines between fantasy and reality.
The attraction is included with normal entry tickets but reservation tickets will be needed at no further cost.
Disneyland visitors between 31 May and 23 Jun will receive a designated reservation to access the area. It will also be open during Extra Magic Hours.
For the record I have never seen a Star Wars movie but am witness to the impact that the franchise has on the visuals at Disney Parks and merchandise world wide. The attraction being constructed was very visible at the back of the Toy Story Land at Walt Disneyworld.
