Due to open in May 2019 is the new 26,000 sq ft. Museum Facility at the Statue of Liberty. Security changes, after 9/11 I assume, it is thought that only 20% of visitors to Liberty Island got to go inside the iconic statue. Over 4 million visitors take the boats from Battery Park over to Ellis Island and Liberty Island and from the top of the new museum will allow visitors to see the statue from a different angle with the Manhattan skyline behind her.

The new museum will allow those without tickets to get inside the statue to see stories of her history and her influence all over the world. Liberty’s original torch will be on display in one of the three galleries that make up the museum.
