The Disney corporation announced in 2022 the return of recently departed CEO Robert Iger and along with news there were some changes happening at their American Parks.
Splash Mountain in Frontierland will be closing on January 23 at both Disney World and Disneyland for a complete make over. The popular water ride is being re-imagined based on ‘The Princess and the Frog’ film (2009). The new attraction will be called Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. A quote from Disney tells us ‘Princess Tiana will lead guests on a bayou adventure in the new “The Princess and the Frog” makeover of Splash Mountain at Walt Disney World and Disneyland’. The new ride will be open in 2024!
Along side the ride will be a brand new restaurant called Tiana’s Palace as well as the existing Eudora’s Chic Boutique that features Tiana’s Gourmet Secrets, a shop themed around the princess and her dressmaker mother which opened at Disneyland last Autumn.
Disneyland will introduce some changes to guests on certain tickets from 04 February 2023.
One such change that caught my eye was the one with the headline ‘Free Parking’…….before you get excited about saving the $25 per vehicle it will only apply to Disney guests staying on one of their resort properties at Disneyland, CA.
Also at Disneyland there will be almost two months worth of it’s lowest priced tickets available at $104 for a day’s entrance throughout the year. Sometimes depending on what offers are on at certain times it can be cheaper to use a one day ticket.
For Park Hoppers or Magic Key tickets will now eligible for changing parks at 11.00 instead of 13.00 and in addition all ticket holders will be able to get receive free Disney ‘PhotoPass’ digital downloads of attraction photos via the Disneyland app, as part of the resorts ‘Disney100’ celebration marking 100 years of the company.
In Disney World the much anticipated opening of ‘Tron Lightcycle/Run’ ride is opening on 04 April 2023 in Tomorrowland. Based on the 1982 movie and the 2010 sequel the new ride is located next to ‘Space Mountain’.
