Coronavirus – Delta Removes Middle Seat Ban

Delta Airlines announced yesterday, 31 March 2021, that it will be removing the spare MIDDLE SEAT that introduced due to social distancing measures from 01 May 2021. Delta was the only US Airline that was continuing with this measure. Reports are that US Air Travel is at it’s busiest since the Pandemic started, one year ago.

Airlines are insisting that even with a full passenger load the enhanced hygiene measures brought in will keep customers safe. So with better cleaning and mandatory mask wearing along with the vaccination programme being implemented Delta has joined the other airlines in removing the spare middle seat.

The CDC is still trying to convince flyers NOT to travel but it appears to be a losing battle at the moment. The bargain basement prices for flights and hotels that were available in 2020 are very unlikely to return in 2021. The sector is becoming more confident that the end of the Pandemic is in sight and prices are on the upward tick. It does seem however that having the flexibility to change dates without penalty is going to be a deciding factor in how people book their travel plans.
