South Dakota – Open letter from Sir Richard Branson
As a Virgin First Mate I found this in my work ‘inbox’ which amused me. Virgin Voyages launch in April 2020 on a rotation of 4 or 5 night voyages from Miami. The Scarlet Lady hasn’t been launched yet but the voyages are open for sale. Virgin are reinventing the cruise experience and no children are allowed. Apparently there will be a resident Tattoo Artist … Continue reading South Dakota – Open letter from Sir Richard Branson
AirBNB vs Hotels
My Rocky Mountaineer hosting experience is taking shape and I have six nights from seeing the Celebrity Eclipse group embark on their Alaska cruise and arriving back on Sunday 7 July. I will be staying in Vancouver as part of the group in two different hotels either side of the cruise. My plan was to stay in Canada so I started searching for reasonable priced … Continue reading AirBNB vs Hotels
Which Border Crossing is best?
My plans have changed for the Rocky Mountaineer group in July and I will arriving with the group and having the time as holiday whilst they are cruising. I can’t afford the crazy prices in the Vancouver area so I am going into Washington State. There is a choice of 4 crossings but can anyone suggest which is best? Lombard Street – Toll Proposed!
The world’s crooked street in fabulous San Francisco is a major tourist attraction. I haven’t been over to California for a few years now but every time I have been in San Francisco it has been on our list to do. When the girls were younger we must have driven around the block on 5 or 6 occasions to drive the short but curvy street. … Continue reading Lombard Street – Toll Proposed!

JetBlue Announces Plans to Fly from Boston and New York to UK
I have never flown on JetBlue but did see their New York offices opposite the Queensboro’ Plaza Transit system in Queens. The exciting news is that they are applying to operate to Europe from Boston and New York but not until 2021. Delta Airlines reaction to the news is that low cost carriers have come and gone on the Transatlantic route. WOW went just last … Continue reading JetBlue Announces Plans to Fly from Boston and New York to UK
Travel has no joined up strategy!
I wrote a little while ago about facility charges being added to hotel rates distorting the search results because of additional charges. The UK cruise market is SOFT right now and there are plenty of bargains to be had. Whether Brexit is deflating the enthusiasm of cruisers or exchange rates are dampening spending habits it is hard to tell. Why can’t hoteliers, bed banks, suppliers … Continue reading Travel has no joined up strategy!
Glacier National Park
As much as I want to write about visiting north of the border and Canada I have to resist unless I start a Canada Road Trip blog. I am lucky to be escorting a group that disembarks in Vancouver and accompany them on the Rocky Mountaineer all the way to Calgary and then spend two days at the Calgary Stampede. It will be work …….of … Continue reading Glacier National Park

I guess this isn’t to do with America or road trips but I need one to enter the States. When I last applied for my passport was one of the last remaining blue passport holders and this time around I will be in possession of what might one of the last pink passports. THe United Kingdom is poised to leave the EU next week or … Continue reading UK Passport Application
