A new executive order signed on the eve of America’s Independence Day by the President is going to ‘Make Our National Parks Great Again!’ as announced by the White House.
America’s National Treasures including the National Parks are to charge overseas tourists more to visit. Essentially it is a ‘Tourist Tax’ by any other name. Funds raised this way are to be ploughed back into keeping and maintaining the facilities and management of the parks. Current funding for these projects was cut and deferred by the recent DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency). Also the diversity funding introduced by the Obama administration has been revoked.
Details are vague at the moment but some media outlets are saying that foreigners will be charged higher rates to enter National Parks. What happens to a coach tour that has a mix of nationalities including Americans onboard that has been pre-paid by the tour company?
Obviously the more popular and heavily visited National Parks charge more than less visited parks so do your homework during your planning. It seems that Alaska has free entry to the states National Parks, many can only be visited as part of a cruise excursion so it is likely that all non US passport holders will be charged to enter.
There are 433 National Park sites across the USA spanning over 85 million acres. Click the Link to explore current rates to America’s National Parks.
More details will be announced in the coming months so be on the lookout especially if you are a foreign visitor to America.
